Greetings Marguerite Christian Families,
I hope you and your family are having a wonderful summer and enjoying these last few weeks before school begins!
The entire Marguerite Christian Elementary staff is excited to welcome our students back on Monday, August 24th for the FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL! We can't wait to see smiling faces filling our hallways again and to begin another year of learning, growth, and memorable experiences together.
As you can see below, our amazing custodial team has been hard at work all summer making our school shine. We are incredibly grateful for all they do to ensure our students and staff return to a beautiful, welcoming, and well-maintained learning environment.
We are looking forward to welcoming your child back to a school filled with caring adults, exciting learning opportunities, and a community where every student can thrive. We can't wait to see you soon!
First Day of School
Monday, August 24th is the first day of school! Doors will open at 9:05 am for students to enter the building. If you're dropping your child off in the morning please have them to wait in your vehicle until 9:05 am.
Parents WILL NOT be able to walk their child to class on the first day or any other day of the school year. We will have enough staff members to assist students in getting to class if they are not familiar with the building.

MCES Open House
Our MCES Open House will be held on Thursday, August 20th from 1:30-3:30. During this time families will meet the teacher, drop off supplies, and begin completing necessary paperwork.
Kindergarten Staggered Start
All kindergarten classes across the county will feature a staggered start date to help students become more familiar with their new surroundings in a smaller classroom setting. Therefore, all kindergarten students at Marguerite Christian will NOT begin school on August 24th.
ONLY students whose LAST NAME begins with letter A-L will attend school on August 24-25.
ONLY students whose LAST NAME begins with letter M-Z will attend school on August 26-27.
ALL kindergarten students will attend school on August 28.
Kindergarten Physical and Immunization
All rising kindergarten students, per CCPS policy, must have a 5 yr old physical and updated immunization records turned into the school by Thursday, August 20th in order to start school on the first day. This includes any students that attended Pre-K at CECLA. Please contact Nurse Tina at (804) 530-5733 with any questions pertaining to immunizations.

Who is my child's teacher?
Please log into your ParentVue account on August 14th to determine your child's teacher. Also, ParentVue provides access to your child's grades, attendance, and other student information. You can access ParentVUE here.
At Marguerite Christian Elementary, every minute of every school day is designed to help our students learn, grow, and thrive. Our classrooms are filled with engaging, high-level instruction where students are reading, writing, solving problems, collaborating with classmates, and thinking critically. Every lesson is intentional, and each day builds upon the last, ensuring students continue to make meaningful academic progress throughout the school year.
One of the greatest gifts we can give our children is the opportunity to be present at school every day. Students who are frequently absent, arrive late, or leave school early miss valuable face to face instruction that cannot be replaced by make up work. Those missed minutes quickly become missed hours of learning, making it more difficult to master new concepts, participate in classroom discussions, and keep pace with their classmates. We know that illnesses and unexpected situations happen, but whenever possible, we encourage families to prioritize daily, on-time attendance. By working together to ensure students are in school, on time, and ready to learn, we are giving every child the best opportunity to reach their full potential. Thank you for partnering with us to make this a successful school year!
MCES Has a Bilingual Family Liason!
I hope everyone enjoyed their summer with their children! My name is Nivializ Ramos, and I'm the MCES Bilingual Family Liaison. What does that mean? I'm here to support you and be the connection between you and the school. My role may include interpreting calls/meetings, translating documents, or helping with records/paperwork, etc. As your Bilingual Family Liaison, I want to ensure our Latino families have the resources they need to be included, prepared and up-to-date with everything that's happening in the community and school. If you have any questions or concerns, I'll be in the school office. You can contact me through my work number (804) 464-8220 or my email is nivializ_ramos@ccpsnet.net.
Update Your Transportation Plan
If you have not done so already, please update your student's transportation information by logging into ParentVUE to choose the way students will travel to and from school and to check your home address and any alternative addresses. Easy-to-follow directions for accessing ParentVUE are online, and your student’s school can provide additional assistance.
Bus stops and pick-up/drop-off times are available via Versatrans.
Bus numbers will be shared with families closer to the beginning of the school year.
Transport type: How will your student travel to and from school? Within ParentVUE, choose the method that your student will use most of the time.
Address: Here is how to update your student’s address:
Parents/guardians can make changes to transportation information by logging into ParentVUE, clicking the student’s name, then clicking on student info.
Alternative addresses are places students stay before or after school on a regular basis (for example: alternating custodial parent addresses). Families may use ParentVUE to update alternative addresses and pickup/drop-off days as often as needed.
Parents/guardians can contact their school’s registrar to make the change.
Please note: A student’s home address must be confirmed by the registrar at the student’s school before changes are final.
